Course Description: NRA Basic Shotgun Course

Objective: The NRA Basic Shotgun Course is designed to teach the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning and using a Shotgun safely.

The NRA Basic Shotgun Course will familiarize you with the correct operation and maintenance all types of shotguns, along with teaching you how to handle and shoot them safely. The course is perfect for the new shotgun owner and serves as an introductory skills course for other more advanced hunting or competitive skeet/trap shooting courses. The core basics of safe shotgun usage are the lifelong building blocks for many other hunting or shooting sports. The ultimate goal of the Basic Shotgun course is to teach the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning and using a shotgun safely.

1.Shotgun Knowledge and Safe Gun Handling
2.Ammunition Knowledge and the Fundamental of Safe Shotgun Operations
3.Fundamentals of Shotgun Marksmanship
4.Proper Cleaning and Storage of all types of Shotguns
5.Firing the First Shots
6.Shooting Sports and related activities along with advice on selection of a shotgun.

This 9 plus hours course combines classroom and live fire range time with up to 30 rounds fired.

 We are currently using Yolo County Sportsmen or Sacramento Shooting Center for the shooting portion.
